ABOUT ME
Soo a little bit about me, the person behind Nurse Chat. I am a twenty-something year old children’s nurse who has been qualified for five years. Now, before you roll your eyes and question how someone with only five years of nursing experience (eight if we count my nurse training as this sounds more impressive) can create content for such a platform, let me give you a snapshot of where my nursing career has taken me so far. At the ripe age of twenty-something I have worked across two very different peadiatric specialties. I have nursed in three different countries in three different continents, as well as going back to university to complete a post graduate qualification in my chosen specialty. Although I am proud of what I have achieved so far, what I am trying to convey is that I have been where a lot of you have been. I have been that nineteen year old student off to placement; whilst every other student was out partying, enjoying 241 vodka shots. I have been the newly qualified nurse overwhelmed with the transition of student to nurse, and I have also been that nurse who cried at the end of the shift, because NOTHING seemed to go right. At all the various points before and during my career I have always wanted to create another platform of everything and anything nurse related. I think it is important for the current and future nurse generation to be able to seek information from someone who has been and is still walking in their nurse shoes. Whether it is how to prepare for placement, or even the little things like what are sensible nurse shoes (which I have come to learn that ugly shoe = comfy shoe) these sorts of consistent avenues from real nurses is lacking.
Nurse Chat has been created for all nurses to speak, be encouraged, be mentored, share advice and be advised, and in due course I hope so much more. I also hope that I too can learn from you all along the way.
So stay tuned I’ve got so much exciting content to share.
